Young Danish Photography is a yearly recurring exhibition at Fotografisk Center. This year ‘identity’ is the prevailing theme and in this context we have chosen to focus on personal history, memory, archive and the narrative process. We have invited five artists to exhibit: María Kristín Hassing Antonsdóttir, Hulda Sif Ásmundsdóttir, Julia Jayko Fossland, Lisbeth Johansen, and Dan Frisk Petersen. Common to many of their projects is that they are based on situations from their own lives. In addition, they work with a poetic, often fragmentary expression, in which the images bind associatively together through storytelling.
In connection with Young Danish Photography ’18 we have chosen to present a film program based on an ‘open call’. The films are shown in a cinema in the exhibition. Young Danish Photography ’18 is curated in collaboration with Christine Almlund, MA, a specialist in photography at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art. Fotografisk Center is supported by the City of Copenhagen and the Danish Arts Foundation.
The exhibition is made possible with support from: The City of Copenhagen, The Danish Arts Council, DGI Byen & DJ:Photographers
